Leading design direction for ANS’s AI

powered desktop app.

Outcomes

  • Achieved an 83% ease-of-use rating in a post-beta user survey — a strong signal for a technically complex AI tool built for solar engineers.

  • Built ANS's first pattern library using AI tooling, accelerating the initial frontend build by 1–2 weeks and establishing a shared visual foundation for the engineering team.

  • Led design for ANS's first AI platform — a 0→1 product built to eliminate toil for solar engineers, giving them back time previously lost to repetitive, manual engineering tasks.

Project Overview

ANS is a sustainable energy engineering firm where multidisciplinary teams — electrical, structural, civil — do technically rigorous work that leaves little room for inefficiency. The opportunity was clear: reduce the volume of repetitive, low-complexity work eating into billable hours and give engineers a faster path to delivering on client requirements. As the sole designer working against a 1:6 ratio with full-stack engineers and an aggressive timeline, I focused less on designing screens and more on designing infrastructure — a clear navigation architecture and a reusable pattern library that let the team build consistently without me in the room for every decision. The result was a platform that shipped with intuitive navigation and scalability built in from the start, earning a response from our CTO that said everything from the UX to the code was amazing.
